On Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the International School of Interdisciplinary Humanities (ISIH), Chiang Mai University, held its annual Internship Seminar, bringing students, fellow undergraduates and academic staff together to share experiences and reflect on learning beyond the classroom.

Organised every first semester, the seminar provides a platform for students returning from their summer internships to present their experiences, exchange perspectives and reflect on what they have learned in professional settings. It also offers an opportunity to connect practical workplace experiences with the interdisciplinary concepts explored throughout the programme.

This year, students completed internships across a diverse range of organisations, including hotels, a community mall, an airport, health and wellness centres, international schools and an energy company. Notably, many students took on roles directly related to sustainability, demonstrating how sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of professional practice across different industries.

Beyond sharing their daily responsibilities and workplace experiences, students had the opportunity to discuss the challenges they encountered, the skills they developed and the ways their academic learning related to real-world situations. Fellow students and academic staff contributed to these discussions, offering conceptual perspectives that helped deepen reflection on the experiences presented.

The seminar reflects ISIH’s commitment to connecting interdisciplinary education with professional practice. By bringing workplace experiences back into the classroom, students can develop a more critical understanding of organisations, sustainability and their potential roles in addressing contemporary social and environmental challenges.

We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of students to the Internship Seminar in 2027, continuing the exchange of experiences and ideas that connects learning, work and sustainability.
